Announced in 2014, the Indiana Supreme Court has begun to implement a new e-filing system that will allow cases to be filed entirely online. The project was launched in Hamilton County in July of 2015 and became mandatory July 1, 2016, when it also became mandatory for the Indiana Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, and the Tax Court. The new system is expected to be adopted entirely by the end of 2018.
At Cline Farrell Christie & Lee, we’re happy to see these new changes taking place. The new e-filing system should encourage a smoother, more efficient process as well as bring court filings into the modern era, where we do most everything remotely. When it’s fully implemented, it will also reduce costs of physical copies and filing. While it’s a big leap for the courts, state attorneys are excited about the change.
